DISTURBED Frontman Rips 'Pathetic Parasites' In Media Who 'Don't Know The First Thing About Real Journalism'

DISTURBED frontman David Draiman has slammed the "pathetic parasites" in the media who report on "absolute meaningless stupidity" related to his band.

Draiman made headines in recent months for several onstage incidents, including when he called out a texting fan during the band's show in Dallas in March and when he commented on the breast size of a female audience member in Midland, Texas in October, saying that her "boobs are so big, she could solve world hunger."

Speaking to the Spokane radio station Rock 94 1/2 at last month's Aftershock festival in Sacramento, California, Draiman spoke about the latter incident in more detail, saying (see video below) "that particular scenario was actually really funny. She was this tremendously well-endowed woman who just wouldn't stop exposing herself the whole beginning of the set. She had her tremendous breasts sitting on the barricade, like, for the first six songs — just shaking them all over the place — and everybody on stage was, like, 'Ooh ahah.' So I'm, like, 'Okay, obviously, this woman wants attention. I'm gonna give her some attention.' Then she throws up the big-ass bra right before [DISTURBED's performance of its cover version of SIMON AND GARFUNKEL's] 'The Sound Of Silence', and I'm, like, 'Okay, let's try and be funny here,' and I might have gone a little but far with it, and I tend to sometimes. But it was just… it was hysterical to me."

According to Draiman, the Midland incident was an example of something that never should have made headlines in the first place, but is indicative of how modern media outlets use clickbait titles and eye-catching headlines for the purpose of drawing immediate attention to their work.

"You can never make the picture more clear of who are the pathetic parasites out there who don't know the first thing about real journalism on any level by what they do with a situation like that, or whether they even choose to report on a situation like that," the singer said. "I mean, forgive me for saying so, but this is still rock and roll, right?"

Draiman went on to slam the politically correct atmosphere of early-twenty-first century America, saying: "Welcome to the new age, ladies and gentlemen, where everybody is butthurt by everything, everything needs to be softened up for everyone, and everybody gets called out on absolute meaningless stupidity."

DISTURBED released a new live album, titled "Live At Red Rocks", on November 18 via Warner Bros. The disc captures DISTURBED's August 15, 2016 show at the fabled Colorado amphitheater where the band stopped during their tour in support of current album, "Immortalized".

"Immortalized " was officially certified gold on September 23 by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for sales of more than 500,000 copies. The certification came seven months after RIAA started including on-demand audio and video streams and a track sale equivalent in gold and platinum album award.

"Immortalized" was released in August 2015. The effort became the band's fifth LP in a row to enter the chart at No. 1 — a feat shared only with METALLICA and DAVE MATTHEWS BAND.
